According to the Mercury News, diabetics are scaling back on their own treatment in today's recession. (It costs about $350 to $900 a month for medication and supplies without insurance!) The scary thing is they are probably risking their very lives and limbs by not taking their medication regularly or appropriately. Diabetes is nothing to fool around with at any stage because it will only get worse if medication, lifestyle practices and diet are ignored. So what's a diabetic to do in these tough economic times?
Work on your lifestyle and diet. This is a positive choice you can make, which will over time lesson the need for medication, lower your blood sugar and prevent the future ramifications of diabetes. Make your health a priority.

- Walking doesn't cost much if your feet are still in good shape and you have a good pair of walking shoes. There are also TV programs and CD rentals with various exercise programs for those in who are even unable to move a lot. The important thing is to move more.
