  • And just when you thought the pool was only good for tanning: The Palms Casino Resort in Vegas is going green, with a little help from its pool. On Earth Day, the resort, with N9NE Group and Sustainable Waves, unveiled Sin City's first solar-powered DJ booth. The solar panels soak up power directly from the pool deck.

  • Happy Birthday from Starwood Hotels! Now through December 31, guests pay the last two digits of their birth year for their second or third night in the hotel (i.e. if you were born in 1970, your rate is $70; if it's 1941, you pay $41).

  • Economy down, hotel deals up: Omni Hotels just expanded its Select Guest loyalty program, a three-tiered rewards program that gives guests the opportunity to earn free goodies like Wi-Fi, drinks, chef-inspired snacks, and late check-out options.

  • American Airlines is revamping its frequent flier program. Starting today, AAdvantage members will be able to use their saved miles towards one-way tickets (which use fewer miles than round-trip tickets), and can even use their miles towards a first-class ticket one way, and an economy ticket for the return trip.
